Simply Recipes

About The Project

Simply Recipes is a recipe-sharing social media website that gives users meal inspiration.  The search features are an essential part of this website.  General or specific terms can be used to search for recipes.  Recipes are rated based on a star system and users can make suggestions on how to improve the recipes.

Roles and Responsibilities

Led the class project, performed User Experience Design including wireframes, prototypes, and testing, and applied User Interface Design principles and best practices

The Problem

I  want to find a new dessert recipe.

Search

I conducted a survey asking people "Why do you search for a recipe?"  The results proved a person will visit a recipe website for inspiration.  Most people make the same recipes they are comfortable with.  Using the Simply Recipes website will give users new recipe ideas by using various ways to search for recipes.

Find recipes that have blueberries in them and take less than 1 hour and 30 minutes to make.

Read user reviews to choose the best- tasting tart.

Check to see what ingredients I have and which ones I need.

Make a tart and taste it.

The predominant done or next step button lets the user know what the next step will be.

The star rating system is used to rate the recipes.  Positive ratings give creditability to the recipes making other users more likely to use the recipe.

The Final Product

The user arrives here after they have searched and read the reviews.

Conclusion

I learned that one design process does not fit all.  Each project has its own set of problems.  Figuring out what method to use to solve the problem is just as important as solving the actual problem.  Research, testing, and adjustments will continue to be done to ensure user satisfaction.
